Don't mess with a pregnant lady

Yesterday was not a fun day. When I got up, I was excited to go get a prenatal massage and an adjustment from my chiropractor. My appointment was at 8 am and as I pulled into their parking lot, Mike texted me asking if between 8 and 10 was okay for the AC repair man to come. Of course not! He forgot all about my appointment! He changed the AC repair to 10-12. I had my massage and was moving to my adjustment when I looked at my phone. I had 6 missed texted messages, 3 missed calls, and a voicemail….mostly from Mike and one from my neighbor. I immediately called Mike and found out our house alarm was going off because the family room sensor went off. I immediately thought the worst. Today is actually 3 years since we moved into this house and that's never happened. My mom, who works at my chiropractor's office, was worried about me driving home carefully and about my blood pressure. I left my appointment without my adjustment and drove home carefully, knowing the police had been dispatched. I called my neighbor on my drive home and she said the police had already come and gone and when she first heard the alarm, she came over and looked through the front windows and didn't see anything. I got home, called Mike as I entered, and all was fine. We're not sure what it was, but it did throw my morning for a loop. Really, all that time I was thinking about our precious dogs and hoping they were okay…and they were. Still not sure what set the alarm off….as my wonderful Grandad said, "It might have been a mosquito hawk," and it very well could have been!

Next, the AC repair man. Remember he was supposed to be here between 10 and 12. He showed up at 1:45….just a tad late! He fixed the problem and thankfully didn't charge us, because he thinks he caused the problem when he was here checking the system a month ago. BUT, while he was here I got a phone call from one of our credit card companies. The card I've had the longest was compromised. It seems like this happens all the time. It happened to our other card last month, my parent's card twice in the past 4 months, and my mother--in-law. These credit card companies need to find a way to make theses cards duplicate-proof!!!

AND now for the kicker! I've mentioned before that we're a sponsor couple for those getting married in our church. Well, last night around 6, the head lady showed up at our house, UNANNOUNCED! It was just me and the dogs, Mike wasn't home yet. She basically walked right in when I answered the door and let me have it about not turning in a form. She used the word  "FRANTIC" about 3 times. This whole thing completely threw me off. I tried getting a few words in, but it was pointless. I think of all things that Tuesday, this got me going the most! Without going into the whole story, she left, I was beyond MAD, and I printed off a new form and hand delivered it to the church last night. I attached a note on it and I may have respectfully taken out my frustrations on a different lady, but oh well. I then got home and wrote a nice, long email to the lady that showed up at my house. I made sure to tell her I didn't appreciate her tone or how she treated me in our own home, as we are volunteers with the church. I also told her I was pregnant and occasionally deal with high blood pressure. Point of this story….DON"T MESS WITH A PREGNANT LADY!

ACTUALLY, the real point of this story is…..things happen in life that upset us..maybe a bit more when we are carrying child, but at the end of the day, we have our families, friends, homes, and possessions. All of which is more than those in Moore, Oklahoma have. The destruction that this tornado has caused is absolutely heartbreaking. I can't imagine having my home leveled, along with everything around me, along with an entire elementary school while school was in session. I've cried several times watching the coverage, from people who feel lucky and blessed to be alive but have nothing, a lady finding her dog during an interview, a teacher who laid on top of her students and prayed out loud for God to protect them, to a mother who ran 6 blocks to try to find her kindergartner and thank goodness, did find her alive! Some would be heartless and say, these people live here and should expect tornadoes….but NO ONE should ever expect that 200 mile per hour winds from a storm that reaches 2 miles wide is going to come…….it doesn't happen, until Monday, May 19, 2013. Mother Nature is a powerful and scary force. I will continue to pray for those effected and for the miracle that there are still survivors found in that school.

pups & kisses,
  Tiffany
