Baby Shower Round 2

I had another good weekend! It started Friday when my mom and I went across town to see my grandparents. Last Monday my wonderful grandmother was placed under hospice care. It's such a sad situation, but hopefully this will help her to be in peace. She slept a lot while we were there, but when I told her I loved her, she said I love you back, which meant the world to me!

Saturday morning it was Breakfast with Tiffany time! My sister and sister-in-laws threw me a BABY & Co. themed shower. It was a fun shower, with beautiful decor, yummy food, delicious desserts, and great friends and family. Here are a few pictures from the shower.

This is a pretty busy week for me. This morning I had a chiro appointment, Wednesday we go to the high risk doc for another ultrasound, the dogs go to the groomer, and the house cleaners come; Thursday I'm spending the day with one of my wonderful aunts, and Friday we have our 30 week appointment at our OB. It's hard to believe that we'll only have 10 weeks left before we meet precious Logan…..that's 10 weeks unless he comes a little early, which as long as he's healthy, I'd love for him to come a little early!

Have a blessed week and please keep my grandmother in your prayers!

Baby Shower Round 1

Saturday my wonderful, amazing, lovely aunts threw me a fabulous family baby shower! They themed the shower to match the nursery, which is still a work in progress. Every detail was so super cute! They put so much thought and hard work into making our very first baby shower something we will never forget! We are so incredibly blessed to have such a huge family that gets to celebrate these fun events in life together. Here are some photos from the shower.

The beautiful diaper cake my sister made

This cake wasn't just yummy, it was super cute! Matches our bedding exactly!

My wonderful aunts! Missed you Aunt Tina!

My mother-in-law and me

This may have been one of my favorite gifts. This was from one of my cousin's and her husband, who retired a year ago from HFD. He was just diagnosed with cancer and will begin treatment soon.  He was there for my dad over 2 years ago when he was diagnosed with prostate cancer. We will always remember his kindness and support towards my dad. Please keep Phil in your prayers.

Mike came by at the end to say hi to all the family and to help get the wonderful gifts home.

Have a blessed week!

Mom Car

This weekend we decided it was time to test drive a couple cars and upgrade my small 4 door sedan to a larger vehicle in preparation of Logan's arrival. I loved my TSX, but one of my good friends had one too and found out before her little bundle of joy arrived, that the front passenger seat had to be pulled up all the way for her infant carseat to fit in the back. After hearing that, we knew once we were expecting, a mom car was in my future!

Mike got home a bit early on Friday and we started at the first dealership. We looked at the Infiniti JX and really liked it….the test drive was good, but I think I was hesitant on driving a car that felt so much bigger than my sedan. Mike was way more sold on it right away. I really wanted to look at the new Acura MDX. I've always driven either a Honda or Acura and feel partial to that family of cars. We left Infiniti and went straight to Acura to test drive the new MDX that the commercials have really been talking up. As soon as we saw it, we were disappointed. The interior didn't come close to comparing to the Infiniti, but the drive was really nice. I felt slightly more comfortable driving it, I think because I'm more used to how the Acura/Hondas handle on the road. Our sales guy was a little strange and it wasn't until we were ready to leave, without purchasing, that he started trying to sell the car. We told him we'd sleep on it and let him know in the morning. By this time, it was 10 till 9 and we hadn't eaten yet. We ate at Chuy's on the way home and discussed the two vehicles. It was quite clear the Infiniti was the much better deal for everything it offered…this was much more clear to Mike…..my indecisive pregnancy brain was getting in the way. The next day, we called our Infiniti guy, asked for a little more on my trade in, and waited for the call to see if it was a done deal. IT WAS! He told us to be there around 2 and the car would be ready to go! We were really excited to be getting a great car that is the perfect size for our growing family.

Because Friday and Saturday were pretty exhausting, Sunday was very relaxing, after a busy morning. We did yard work, I cleaned the garage a bit, and then we had lunch. The rest of the day was spent watching DVR and I finished reading a book my good friend Melanie gave me for my birthday. I HIGHLY recommend this book to all soon-to-be mamas and all moms! I could relate to some of the author's experiences while pregnant and could imagine some once our baby arrives. I cried, I laughed…..I cried some more…thank you pregnancy hormones, and part of me wants Mike to read it!

On a side note, without going into detail, I want to just say that the past few weeks have been a difficult time for some of my family. With that being said, I LOVE my family and know how lucky we all are to have each other, especially during the hard times in life. Faith in GOD can get us through these things and we have to know that it's in his hands.

Have a blessed week!

26 weeks and 1 day

This morning we had another ultrasound at our high risk doctor's office. Just to recap, my belly as of 24 weeks was measuring 2 weeks ahead of schedule. Today….little Logan is measuring 3 weeks ahead of schedule!!! Little Logan isn't so little! At 26 weeks and 1 day, he weighs 2.7 pounds and is 29 weeks along! He's one BIG baby who's definitely taking after his daddy's genes! He was very squirmy during the ultrasound too and at one point had both feet and hands up by his face…I think he was telling us he didn't want his picture taken anymore! His facial features are more developed since last seeing him at 20 weeks and I can't wait to see precious him in person! The doctor didn't say he was going to be early due to his size, but I just have a feeling he will be. I need to get my act together and get organized so that I'm prepared as can be, just in case! In 2 weeks I have my gestational diabetes test, which I'm nervous about. I know the bigger the baby, the higher the chances are of a positive test, and knowing I have the test and trying not to eat sweets is making me want nothing but SWEETS! That being said, I made cookies this afternoon!

I pinned a recipe a few weeks back for the perfect M&M cookies. Perfect because their shape is perfect due to using Vanilla instant pudding mix. After making them, their shape is nice, but they taste delicious!

Ingredients
  • 1 stick/1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
  • 3 tablespoons Instant vanilla pudding mix
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 3/4 cup mini chocolate chips
  • 1-1 1/2 cups Mini M and M’s

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. and line a large baking sheet with a silpat liner or parchment paper.

In a large mixing bowl cream your butter and sugars until well combined. Add your egg and vanilla mixing to combine. Add your flour, pudding mix, baking soda and salt, stirring to combine. Add chips and m and m’s stirring to combine.

With a medium cookie scoop (I used a small cookie scoop, so I have more than 2 dozen cookies), place dough 1 inch apart from each other. Bake for 10-12 minutes until cooked through. Let cool on cookie sheet for 10 minutes before transferring to cooling rack.

Makes 2 dozen cookies

ENJOY!
